Allan Wilson -
Before Wilson Partners, Allan worked in the City for UBS, Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse as an accountant in their trading businesses.
Having always had the ambition to have his own business, Allan left the City to start a Chartered Accountancy and business advisory firm in the Thames Valley. Wilson Partners was announced as the 2011 Best General Tax Practice in the UK at the Taxation Awards, beating off stiff opposition from the two other shortlisted firms.
There were a number of things about Wilson Partners that impressed the judges:
• Very rapid growth in a short period of time.
• Strong technical tax skills beyond what would be expected in a firm of their size.
• The use of technology so that the firm is paperless with all post scanned as it comes in.
• Articles written in the professional press.
• Creation of computer models to help decision making, for example on incorporating or taking a company car.
Head of tax, Alan Ross said: “Although we are already recognised in the local area for our tax skills, to be recognised by the profession as a whole is a great honour and we look forward to continued growth from our base in Maidenhead. A big thank you also goes to our clients and contacts, without whom an award like this would not be possible.”
