In demanding leadership roles, it’s easy to set big goals… and then get swept into the day-to-day, defaulting to habits driven by urgency rather than intention. The result? Goals drift, energy drains, and you never quite hit your potential. But what if you could design your goals and the systems to achieve them in a way that fuels your energy rather than depletes it?

This interactive, half-day session draws on practical tools and high-impact mindset shifts from the book By Design Not Default. Leaders will learn how to set motivating and meaningful goals and then design the habits, environments, and systems to make them stick. Through guided exercises, strategic discussion, and peer collaboration, participants will identify their derailers, build habit resilience and flexibility, and leave with a clear, actionable plan to pursue goals with consistency and confidence.

What will be covered?

Challenges This Workshop Addresses

1) Reactive goal setting  – chasing targets without a clear plan or sustainable path to achieve them.
2) Energy leaks  – mental, emotional, and physical drains that sabotage progress towards goals.
3) Inconsistent follow-through  – losing momentum and motivation when things get busy or difficult.

When attending, please come with an idea of a goal you’d like to work on or achieve — it doesn’t need to be fully formed, but having a starting point will help you get the most from the session.

Takeaways

1) Design goals you can sustain – learn how to set energising, achievable goals and break them down into daily actions that fit your reality.
2) Identity creates consistency – align your goals with the kind of leader you want to be, so motivation stays high even under pressure.
3) Performance and wellbeing go hand in hand – leave with a tangible blueprint to pursue your goals while maintaining the energy and resilience to see them through.
