6th - 7th July 2026 - Hosted by MD2MD with Partners: Weightmans, Freeman Clarke and The CFO Centre

Guests act as the board of Acme Ltd, a mid-sized company suddenly hit by a crisis. Working collaboratively at each table, teams respond to unfolding challenges, consult expert partners, and deliver a recovery strategy by the end of the evening.

Pre-Event Preparation

Each participant receives a digital Crisis Pack in advance, including:

  • Company overview
  • Client list
  • Financials
  • Staff profiles
  • Future business plans including scaling to sell
  • Partner profiles (who will be available at each table)

Participants are assigned to tables in advance and informed of their fellow “board members”

Partners’ areas of expertise are highlighted so guests can plan advisory conversations.

Course One - The Crisis Hits!

A supplier complaint triggers a regulatory investigation into a potential data breach. Simultaneously, IT systems fail following a suspected cyberattack. Financial stability is threatened, putting cashflow, reputation and growth plans at risk.

Board Task: Decide immediate priorities, assign responsibilities, communicate internally, and contain damage.

Weightmans: Legal strategy and regulatory defence. Managing regulator engagement, advising on notification obligations, limiting liability exposure, and protecting board and organisational position.

Freeman Clarke: Digital triage and containment. Cyber incident response, forensic investigation, business continuity activation, system recovery, and restoring secure operations.

The CFO Centre: Financial stabilisation and control. Rapid cashflow forecasting, liquidity management, funding strategy, covenant and lender communication, cost prioritisation, and scenario planning to protect stability and future growth.

Course Two - The Fallout

The crisis is now public, threatening investor confidence, client relationships, and ongoing operations, while IT systems remain unstable, and legal and financial risks escalate

Board Task: Stabilise operations, protect reputation, reassure stakeholders, maintain confidence.

Weightmans: Mitigation and regulatory strategy. Managing legal exposure, updating policies and governance controls, guiding regulatory engagement, and protecting the board’s position.

Freeman Clarke: System stabilisation and cyber-risk containment. Securing infrastructure, strengthening communications channels, ongoing forensic investigation, and embedding resilient continuity planning.

The CFO Centre: Financial confidence and control. Cashflow prioritisation, liquidity management, stakeholder and lender communication, scenario modelling, cost discipline, and protecting both stability and future growth plans.

Course Three - Future Strategy

A competitor makes a low-value acquisition offer. The board must decide whether to sell, restructure, or rebuild

Board Task: Decide long-term strategy, retain talent, restore confidence, respond to acquisition approach.

Weightmans: Governance strengthening and resilience. Board structure review, compliance enhancement, risk management frameworks, and ensuring the business is protected through any transaction or restructuring process.

Freeman Clarke: Digital transformation and operational resilience. Automation, infrastructure modernisation, cyber maturity uplift, and future-proofing systems to support scalable growth.

The CFO Centre: Strategic financial leadership. Independent valuation assessment, scenario modelling (sell, restructure, rebuild), capital strategy, performance improvement planning, funding options, and maximising long-term shareholder value.
