Gareth Reakes

Gareth is the CTO of we7, the ad-funded music streaming and subscription service that he co-founded with John Taysom and Steve Purdham.

He is a start up guy through and through, and loves new technology and new ideas. He has been involved in a variety of different start ups and has founded several himself. The type and funding of those companies are varied and include consultancy, product and web companies funded by boot strapping, grants and Venture Capitalists.

He is based in Oxford and stays as involved as possible with the Oxford universities giving talks on entrepreneurship and other matters. He sits on the industry panel for the Oxford university Software Engineering course.

Gareth is heavily involved in Apache, the global open source foundation where he has chaired the Xerces group and sits on the XML group. He was elected a Member of Apache in 2008 and was recently a finalist in the ‘Up and Coming Entrepreneur’ category of the Martin & Audrey Wood Enterprise Awards.
