Business in West Oxfordshire

West Oxfordshire District covers the west of the county, north of the River Thames, and includes the four main towns of Witney, Carterton, Chipping Norton and Woodstock.

Whilst the heritage of the area is a combination of agricultural  business with world famous blanket manufacture, these traditional industries have over the last half-century been replaced by a wide variety of small businesses of all sorts based at a myriad of small industrial estates often in redundant blanket mills in the towns, and at small business centres in redundant farm buildings.

Today, it is no surprise that, as a rural district linking the beautiful Cotswolds Hills with Oxford and containing Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Winston Churchill, and en-route to the Stratford home of William Shakespeare, there are many tourism based businesses in the area.
